Yikes! Time got a way from me!

It has been WAY too long since my last post! Tommy is now 8 months old.

He is wearing size 4 diapers and size 9 month or 9-12 month clothing (some 6-12 month from Gymboree). He still has 2 teeth and is able to go from sitting to his belly. He army crawls, pulling himself along the floor by his arms with his belly on the floor.

He says mamamama, dadadada, bababababa, and many other sounds. He can give high fives, wave bye-bye, and give kisses. He drinks 3, 6oz bottles of formula a day as well as breastfeeding 2-3 times a day.

He has recently begun to sleep through the night, like for real sleeping through, not the 5+hour straight stretches that the doctors like to tell us counts. He goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until about 5 or 6am. He is sooooooo much fun and I'm loving this stage!

Oops (6 months old!)

It's been 2 weeks since my last blog post. Wow, time got away from me! My baby boy is 6 months old already! He is wearing some 6 month sized clothes, some 9 month, and some 6-9 month sized clothes. He's in size 3 diapers and weighed in at 17lbs 12oz at his 6 month appointment which is the 54th percentile for his age. He was 26in long (33rd percentile, although I think he has stretched out since that appointment) and his head circumference was 17.5in (71st percentile, yikes!).

The pediatrician suggested trying barley cereal since we're still having trouble with rice and oatmeal but I'm holding off for now and feeding him spinach to give him the iron that he needs. She also said that if I wanted, I could try and introduce dairy when he's 8 months old. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be breastfeeding for though. Things are still going alright so I'm going to keep going but we are up to 12oz of formula a day.

Two days ago we had a tooth break through! It's just one little needle-sized piece but Tommy's been teething non-stop since then! Luckily, he hasn't been too fussy or anything, just drooling and chewing everything. Yesterday, he was laying on his belly playing with some toys and he pivoted around and started nomming on the leg of his bouncy chair!

Tommy isn't crawling but he is trying! He tries to pull himself forward by his arms and he tries to get up on his knees but when he is able to, he face-plants! I don't think he's super close to being able to crawl but he is starting to get very interested in what's around him and trying to get to everything!

He is also starting to get weary of people he doesn't recognize. He will let them hold him but he looks around for Bill or I to make sure we're near.

I'm so in love with my baby boy!

4 Months Old!

Tommy is 4 months old! He is 14lbs 4oz and 25 inches long. He is in size 2 diapers during the day and size 3s at night since he has been wetting through. He is still wearing some 3 month size clothes but we are starting to put him in 6 month size in some things. He is still drinking 6 oz bottles while at daycare and breastfeeding at night and on the weekends. We tried rice cereal as directed by the pediatrician and while he liked the taste, it gave him terrible gas pains. We are putting cereal on hold for another month. He is still teething and although you can see his little top teeth right below the gums, none have popped out yet. He is batting at toys and just yesterday realized that he can pull down the vibrating toys and does it constantly! He getting so aware of his surroundings!

I am so thankful that we have such a happy, healthy boy!

Sorry I've been MIA

It has been far too long since my last post. This is mostly due to the fact that life has definitely picked up! Work days consist of getting ready, going to work, picking up Tommy, cuddling/feeding Tommy, bottles and prep for the next day, bed, rinse, repeat. Weekends are filled with laundry, lesson planning, grocery shopping, and trying to see family and friends. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it doesn't leave me much free time for things like blogging!

So a rundown:

Tommy is 3 months old!!!
He's still in size 1 diapers but will be graduating to size 2s once this box of 1s is used up.
He is wearing size 3 month clothes comfortably.
He is drinking 6oz bottles while at daycare and I'm almost pumping enough so that he can have all breastmilk.
He is taking at least one nice long nap a day as well as a few shorter naps.
HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! Last Friday night, he slept from 8pm-7am!!! Then Sunday night he slept from 7pm-5am, ate and went back down until 7. Last night he slept from 7:30-6:30 waking up once because he was all congested. Once I held him upright for a couple of minutes, he went right back to sleep.
He is consistently rolling from belly to back and is trying to go from back to belly.
He is smiling daily and babbling away.

An update on the dairy sensitivity, Tommy is a completely new baby! His gas has decreased considerably. He is much happier and is much more relaxed. I used to lay my hand on his belly and feel gas bubbles moving around. He would pull his legs up to his belly and wince in pain everyday, multiple times a day. This is completely gone! Now, he basically cries when he's hungry or tired.

Being a mom is very hard and giving up dairy is difficult but it's so worth it. I'm so in love with my little guy!

Two Months!

Tommy is 2 months old today!!!
Tommy is 11lbs 14ozs and 23 inches long. He is getting much better at napping and sleeping at night by himself. He's definitely not sleeping through the night but he does sleep all night long. He goes to sleep around 10 and sleeps until about 8am just waking up to eat every 3 hours or so. He was sleeping longer stretches but has been waking up more since he's been in his PNP. It's okay though, I think he'll start lengthening the stretches soon. I'm not sure what will happen when I go back to work next week but I'm hoping he'll adjust easily! Happy 2 months Tommy, we love you!

Weekly Check-In (37 weeks)

How far along? 37 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: +40 lbs...
Maternity clothes? Yes, of course.
Sleep? I wake up at least twice a night to go to the bathroom. I wake up slightly sore in the hips and never feel fully comfortable. The good news is that I am sleeping, just not feeling totally rested.
Best moment this past week? The nursery is essentially done! The glider was brought over to us yesterday (it was delivered to my aunt’s house) so we have to put that together but other than that, it’s done!
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? I can officially see it through shirts.
Movement: He has definitely slowed down. Still moving a lot but not the big kicks that I used to get.
What I miss? Drinks, turkey subs, and sleeping like a rock though I know that is gone for a long time...
What I'm looking forward to this week: 38 week appointment on Thursday, I’m excited to see if I’m dilated at all. Also, looking forward to the pedicure I’m supposed to be getting! My mom is also convinced that I will have the baby on Wednesday. My dad has been saying the whole time that I’ll have him on the 14th (my late grandmother’s birthday). If mom is right, I only have a couple more days! haha
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "Your smooshed-up baby is weighing in at around 6.3 lbs and 19 inches (with boys somewhat heavier and longer than girls).
As far as their internal organs go, your adorable poop and blood factory has reached "term" - a medical term that means your sweet little bun is birth-ready and labor is welcome and normal at this point. Despite being physically ready to land on planet Earth, your baby's immune system is quite weak and will continue to be that way for their first years of life. Thankfully, your breast milk (aka "boob medicine") protects your child via protective antibodies that are present in your breast milk.”
Labor Signs: Some very strong Braxton Hicks and they are definitely getting more and more frequent though definitely not time-able. I don’t know if this is a labor sign per say but man, I have been in the bathroom A LOT lately. It’s as if my body wants food out of me as fast as possible.
Picture: Taken at 38 weeks.

Weekly Check-In (36 weeks)

How far along? 36 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: +39 pounds...uhg
Maternity clothes? Yes, of course.
Sleep? Sleep is getting less comfortable but I'm still able to get enough, this wouldn't be the case if I was working though.
Best moment this past week? Getting tons accomplished on the baby front. Pack N Play is set up in our room, the rest of the stuff we need from our registries has been purchased, and more work in the room was accomplished. We did run into a snag with the new blinds. We cannot figure out how to hang them up so my dad is coming over in a couple of days to see if it's just us or if they don't work for our windows.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Reaching full-term on Wednesday!!!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "In fetal developments: most of the bones (soft skull aside) in their little body are now completely hardened, providing a solid structure from which they can now make their grand debut into the world. In physical fitness news: your mini-champ's muscle tone is improving, and you’ll be impressed by their steel-like Ulnar grasp (a newborn reflex that occurs if you lay your finger in their palm)."
Labor Signs:
Some very strong Braxton Hicks.

Weekly Check-In (35 weeks)

How far along? 35 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: I stepped on the scale this morning and it said I'm up 37 pounds. Did I really gain 7 pounds this week?! I've been very hungry lately but 7 pounds?! I'm definitely puffy, I even had to take my rings off today because my fingers are so big so maybe some of it is water weight. I go to the doctor on Thursday so we'll see what he says about it then. Uhg.
Maternity clothes? Yes, of course.
Sleep? Still sleeping in the pillow fortress waking up a lot throughout the night.
Best moment this past week? My baby shower! Pictures to come (I didn't take any so I need to wait for others to send me theirs).
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? I can officially see it through shirts.
Movement: Lots until yesterday and today. I actually decided to do kick counts last night (I haven't been doing them because he's moving all the time). When I laid down and actually counted, I realized that he is moving but not hard kicks or anything. He must be running on of room!
What I miss? Moving around comfortably.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Lunch with some coworkers today, my MIL's bridal shower, my cousin's baby shower, and getting our shower gifts all organized and put away. We're hoping to have the baby room done by this weekend!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "Congratulations! You’re now carrying over 5 pounds of baby-goodness - not counting their amniotic fluid, the umbilical cord, or the placenta itself. Developmentally, your wee womb-tenant has the fat-factory running at full tilt while their digestive system puts the finishing touches on critical organs in preparation for their first meal."
Labor Signs:
Braxton Hicks come and go.

Weekly Check-In (34 weeks)

How far along? 34 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: Still up 30lbs according to my scale. The doctor's scale last Tuesday said up 27lbs though.
Maternity clothes? Oh yeah, and some of them are getting too tight. I went out shopping this past weekend for some more clothes for some upcoming events. I spoke with my mom and she convinced me to just wear the bridesmaids dress that I wore back when I was 30 weeks for my friend Melissa's wedding to Bill's mom's wedding. I still think it's too formal for the type of wedding but it's better than stress myself out trying to find a dress and spending money that could be spent on other things. So that is one outfit down. I also decided to wear the same outfit to both Donna and Patti's showers. I found some cute white capris and a flowy blue sleeveless top that I really like and they were 50% off at Kohls :) I'd link them but they don't appear to be on their website.
Sleep? Still sleeping in the pillow fortress waking up a lot throughout the night.
Best moment this past week? Just spending time with Bill and realizing how close we are to having our little one here!
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? Well, the top sticks out all of the time and by the end of the night it's pretty squishy.
Movement: Lots and lots! He has been getting the hiccups a couple of times a day and he rolls around a lot. Sometimes he squirms up into my ribs and knocks the breath out of me!
What I miss? Being comfortable. That's how I feel all of the time lately, uncomfortable.
What I'm looking forward to this week: My family shower this weekend! I've been itching to get things organized and need to wait until after the shower to see what we get as gifts and what we still need to buy.
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "Until now, your wee womb-squatter's been living fairly high up in your poor stretched-out womb - blithely compressing your poor lungs and internal organs. This week your baby's going to pack their tiny bags and make the 'big' move to your pelvis - commonly referred to as the time when your baby 'drops'" Hmmmm, not so for for me!
Labor Signs:
Braxton Hicks like whoa.
Picture: taken at 35 weeks

Weekly Check-In (32 weeks)

How far along? 32 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: Up 27 total (eek)
Maternity clothes? Yup, although I'm having a hard time finding nice maternity dresses for my shower and for my mother-in-law's wedding so I ordered a non-maternity one from Macy's and I'm hoping it fits. I found another one that might work from JCPenney but they have been out of the biggest size all weekend. I also ordered this one from JCPenney and I think this one might really work. I tried it on in a size smaller than I wore pre-pregnancy (all they had in the store) and it was a little tight, I think my pre-pregnancy size might work!
Sleep? Sleep is starting to get a bit more challenging. Rolling over is a huge chore. Poor Bill, I now sleep with my Snoogle and 3 pillows. He says it doesn't bother him but I know he isn't used to getting so little of our bed.
Best moment this past week?
Let's see, we had my work shower and got an unbelievable amount of gifts! Tons of clothes, the Boppy and a cover, the monitor, and tons of gift cards. We also finally got the furniture into the baby room! I feel so much better now that this is taken care of!
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? Well, the top sticks out all of the time and by the end of the night it's pretty squishy.
Movement: Lots and lots! He's getting so strong! He had the hiccups yesterday afternoon then again at about 1am.
What I miss? Being able to get off the couch and out of bed without it taking tons of effort.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Finishing up the school year. Just have to get through tomorrow and I'm officially on summer break!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "Thanks to their recently matured lungs and a strengthening immune system, over 90% of babies born in their 32nd week survive!"
Labor Signs:
None this week.

Weekly Check-In (31 weeks)

How far along? 31 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: Up 26 pounds total
Maternity clothes? Yup, I even broke down and bought new sweat shorts and they are way more comfortable.
Sleep? I'm still sleeping great! I get up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom but I'm able to go right back to sleep.
Best moment this past week?
Getting and iPhone for an early birthday present from Bill! Also finally getting the baby room painted! It's been so hot and humid here that the paint would never dry if we tried to paint it. Yesterday was perfect so we did the second coat of wall paint and the first coat of trim. Today is supposed to be comfortable again so we'll do the second coat of trim and hopefully get the furniture in since my work shower is tomorrow! Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? In, but it's looking very little.
Movement: Lots and lots! He's getting so strong!
What I miss? Being able to get off the couch without it taking tons of effort.
What I'm looking forward to this week: It's the last week of school with my students. By the end of this week my classroom will be completely packed and ready to move to my new room. Then I just have to work next Monday and Tuesday to make up for the number of snow days we had this year and the school year is over! Also, my work shower is tomorrow :)
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "This week, your amazing growing baby is around 3 pounds and 17 inches tall. With each added layer of baby fat, your baby's wrinkly raisin skin starts to look more and more like it will when they're born."
Labor Signs: None this week.

Maternity clothes? Yup, everything but sweats and the big t-shirts I sleep in.
Sleep? I'm still sleeping great! I get up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom but I'm able to go right back to sleep.

Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? In, but it's looking very little.
Movement: Lots and lots! He's getting so strong!
What I miss? Not being scared of every little, abnormal thing. Since the scare on Saturday, I'm very jumpy.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Keeping this baby cooking!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "In terms of numbers, your big ol' baby should be weighing in at around 3 pounds 12 ounces (or more!) and be nearly 16 inches long!"

Weekly Check-In (29 weeks)

How far along? 29 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: +22 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yup, everything but sweats and the big t-shirts I sleep in.
Sleep? I'm still sleeping great! I get up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom but I'm able to go right back to sleep.

Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? In, but it's looking very little.
Movement: Lots and lots! He's getting so strong!
What I miss? Wine slushies. You can only really get them at festivals and this past weekend was the first big festival of the summer. They are so delicious and I want one!
What I'm looking forward to this week: Getting the second coat of paint on the baby room walls and getting the furniture moved in. In non-baby news, one of my very best friends is getting married next weekend and I'm a bridesmaid! I can't wait for her big day. In work-related news, I should find out what grade level I'll be teaching next year. Fingers are crossed that I either loop up to second grade with my current class or that I get to stay in first grade!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "In addition to getting a round of butterfly-like hiccups, your little swimmer has arduously managed to accumulate enough baby fat to account for nearly 3.5% of their overall body weight."
Labor Signs: None this week.
Picture: (it's the same one as below, I'm lazy...sorry!)

Weekly Check-In (28 weeks)

How far along? 28 weeks, 5 days
Weight gain/loss: +20 pounds, down 1 from last week. This is possibly because we're having a heat wave in NY and all I've done is sweat for the last week.
Maternity clothes? Yup, everything but sweats and the big t-shirts I sleep in.
Sleep? I'm still sleeping great! Totally jinxed the whole getting up to pee thing. I have been getting up at least once if not twice to go to the bathroom. It's really not a big deal though, I usually fall right back to sleep.
Best moment this past week?
It's been a rough week but I think I figured out the whole calve cramps thing. I added another 20oz of water to my day and they seem to have disappeared. That's a good thing!
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? In, but it's looking very little.
Movement: Lots and lots! Now Bill, my sister, my mom, and my mother in law have felt him kick :)
What I miss? I still really want a drink.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Getting the 3 hour glucose test over with and hopefully having a better week than last week. We started looking at baby names again and we're pretty much set between two of them. Of course I like one and Bill likes the other. I think I can bring him over to my side though!
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "your little explorer's eyes are doing lots of blinking this week because they’re now responding to light and dark! And in life-critical physical developments: your champ's tiny industrious bone marrow is now a major construction site for blood cells, while their super-cute adrenal glands are actually producing androgen and estrogen — which will stimulate your body to begin milk production."
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks here and there.
Picture: can't find my camera :( Who loses a camera. I'll try and take a decent picture with my phone later
Edit: Here's my crappy cell phone pic from 29 weeks

Belly button in or out? In, but it's looking very little.

What I miss? This week I really wanted a drink. I haven't had a drop of alcohol since the end of Novemeber!
What I'm looking forward to this week: Nothing in particular :)
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "For the first time ever, your wee babe's eyelids have finally opened (remember: they were fused shut previously) and they’re probably having their first moments of sight as you read this (or maybe it already happened while you were brushing your teeth or browsing the internet or something). In addition to taking in their first visual impressions of their comfy amniotic-filled studio, your little human-bean recently acquired the ability to move their head around."
Labor Signs: I added this one because I'm pretty sure I've had a couple of Braxton Hicks contractions this week. No big deal though.

Weekly Check-In (23 weeks)

How far along? 23 weeks, 5 days

Maternity clothes? Yup, all pants (except sweats) and most shirts.
Sleep? I had been sleeping great!Best moment this past week? Having Bill feel the baby move from the outside :)
Sex: We're having a boy!
Belly button in or out? In, but getting more shallow.
Movement: I'm feeling more and more every day. It's starting to get stronger too.
What I miss? Hmmm, nothing much this week, I'm just excited!
What I'm looking forward to this week: My friend Melissa is coming to visit! She was supposed to come up to Syracuse a couple of weeks ago but ended up getting sick.
Milestones: From babygaga.com, "Your little womb hi-jacker is starting to kick their break-dance party up a notch now that his/her ears are registering sounds from the outside world!"
Picture (from yesterday):In other baby news, we finally finished painting the baby room! The wall behind me in my bump picture is the color. I love it, it's very neutral. I also got a huge burst of energy this past week while on vacation from work and put together the dresser and the changing table. They are perfect! The one complaint I have though is that the room is pretty small and I'm not sure we'll be able to fit the dresser, changer, crib,
and a glider in there. We'll see once we get the crib put together and everything situated but I'm starting to worry. The room we are using is not technically a bedroom since there is no closet. We have another bedroom but the windows need to be replaced and it currently houses the litter box. I'm sure we could get the room ready in time for the baby but Bill insisted that this room is better. It's definitely in better shape but I'm starting to worry that we made the wrong choice.

Here are some more pictures:
The newly painted walls.
